We started to advertise on GuitarFlame.com

Posted in advertising by magictemplate on the May 14th, 2008

Lately I have decided to put a banner to our site on GuitarFlame.com, an other site (blog) that I own. GuitarFlame.com is a blog about electric guitars, with a lot of information about music. I have decided to add this banner there because I want to increase the exposure of MagicTemplate.com site as much as I can. It may bot be a niche that have so many in common with free church web design, but people there appreciate art and I think it will be well received. There are many internet marketing strategies out there but I think I’ll use one at a time. For now, I promote it here.

As an observation, beside the advertising opportunities on MT site, consider GuitarFlame.com as an other alternative for purchasing private ad spots. The site is continuously growing in traffic, has a PR 4 and a steady reader base, which makes great conditions for advertising there.

I think that Christian music sites will find it to be a very interesting place to advertise and also a very nice to read blog, with a lot of interesting information.

Give it a try!

The third position in Google index converts better

Posted in advertising,MySpace Christian layouts by magictemplate on the October 18th, 2007

What would be the best position in Google index? I guess there is only one answer: the first one!!! I want to be the first!!! Yes, indeed! I guess that the first position is almost all the time clicked. BUT: does it convert all the time?

Well, some of the internet marketers say that the best  position is the third one. Why? Well, it is simple: supposing you are searching for Christian MySpace layouts on the internet. You go to the firs page in G. Look, but maybe you want to look some more. Ok then, go to the second position. Now you are already  a bit  educated about what you are looking for.  Go to the third page…and  why not use one from here? Since you already have an experience with the first 2 pages, plus this one, 3.  More than this maybe it would be too much.

It is the same thing with music. Experts say that in a concert or on a CD or DVD, the most important songs are the first (since it opens the show with it so the people is waiting for it) and the third. On the second song it seems that people lose attention for a short while, after they payed attention to the first but come back to the third. Thus, put the best songs on the first and 3rd position.

I find it similar to the search engine index position. The third position seems to convert very well.

What do you think about it?

Network For Advertising Baptist Websites

Posted in advertising,Christian resources by magictemplate on the October 4th, 2007

Some of you may already know the service, other may not. So, here it it: Baptist AdWorks. This is the site I will try to bring to your attention. What I can say from the very first moment of looking on their website is the fact that I love the targeting they have. Just Baptist websites. Or Christian sites, or any religious sites, any would make a great niche. General advertising networks are great, but niche networks like this one I guess it will bring you a better return on your investment since the market is already filtered for your niche – religious sites.

That is why I think it works great. Personally I didn’t try it (yet) but I have seen the service used a lot on other websites. Let’s look at what they say about it:

Publishers:

We have the solution! Baptist AdWorks is a distinctively Baptist pay-per-click ad network that can supply you with ads appropriate for your Baptist audience. You won’t have to worry about ads for adult items, web sites related to immoral lifestyles and activity, or denominations promoting doctrinal error. Finally, you can go to sleep at night without worrying about whether or not an ad for a casino or XXX web site is being featured on one of your web pages

Advertisers:

We have the solution! Place your ads through our content network, and you will be reaching your market in what we believe is one of the most effective manners possible. And, you are only charged when someone clicks on your ad. We feature a low initial minimum deposit of $10 to allow virtually anyone to begin promoting their web site, services, or products using our network.

Considering they claim they have the capacity of delivering 650.000 ads every month, I’d say they worth at least a try.

Do you have any experience with this service?

When you get into something, learn the game first

Posted in advertising,Christian resources by magictemplate on the July 26th, 2007

I was paying some thinking these days and I got to the conclusion that continuity is one of the best things you can have in your career of web developer, web designer or whatever you are. Websites grow in time, nobody expects a website to start earning money right the next day you put it up and running. No, you can not expect this. Or if you expect this then you are a newbie in websites. We will all be there for you in this case :-)

I remember somebody I know asking me one day about how to earn money from websites. He heard about that idea with million dollars page and he said that yes, I will make such a page. Ok, I asked him. How are you going to bring money to this website of yours? Well, I will go to companies (physically speaking, local companies). Ok, I said, but why would a company pay you advertising space on your website? I tried not to hit him but to make him realize by himself the way sites work.

Well, he said, I am going to promote them on my page. That is why they pay me. Well, Ok, I said, I got your point. I explained him how things work and I advised him to start a blog and build traffic first.

See the mistake? He missed the main problem: how will he get traffic? He never thought about this and he just wanted to make money by building a website. He had no knowledge about websites, HTML, marketing, or whatever we do here, he just wanted the result.

So I was thinking: when you start a game, learn the rules first, otherwise you’re lost!

What do you think?

Google listed me 1 hour after I have published the information on one of my sites

Posted in advertising by magictemplate on the July 20th, 2007

I have performed a test today, without a real intention of doing it, just that it happened to observe something and then I tested it for real. To make it clear, it is a statement, not a joke, read here if you don’t believe it:

I got listed in Google 1 hour after I posted something on one of my blogs and twice in one single day!!!

It’s for real, no joke, I have 2 posts about this on LayoutGarden.com with data and step by step explanations. I invite you all to read it.

My less is more experiment seems to be a failure

Posted in advertising by magictemplate on the May 10th, 2007

Actually not the experiment, but the results seem not to be that good. The experiment worked, but the result showed me something that I am not very happy about. What do I mean: I decreased the size of the AdSense banner in the left side of the page, from a large SkyScraper to a small rectangle, forcing thus only high paying ads to be displayed.

I wanted to see if, even if I decrease the CTR, how will this affect my earnings, considering the fact that only high paying ads will be displayed.

Result?

The CTR was almost half of what it used to be.It seems I got some more expensive clicks, but as an average…it was way below my expectations. I switched back, now everything wen back on track. Well, if I double think about it, the experiment was good. I know something more about the way my ads perform.

Notice: please keep in mind that what id didn’t work for my site may work for yours. Every site is different, ads perform differently on each site, optimize and test, as Google itself says!
