When building your Christian website you have so much to tell, so much to talk about, right? You would like all the world to hear about it. Well, all you need to remember is not to put everything on one page. We all have the urge to spread our information all over the internet, and our Christian website would be the perfect place for starting spreading our news, right? Well, not quite.

You have 15 seconds to convince me

Try not to have everything in one place since your visitors will be confused. They will not see what you want to show them and they will leave your site. Do you know that the average time a website has in order to convince the visitor before leaving it is around 15 seconds? Well, if you didn’t manage to convince your visitor in those 15 seconds then he’ll leave your site.

Don’t give me ads

The second “disorder” an internet user suffers from is the ad blindness, meaning that too many ads will be ignored. During time spent on the internet, regular users developed this ad blindness and today they really miss some important parts of the page if that one is filled with ads, or looks like an ad.

Your Christian website users will only scan your pages, not read them the way you want

Well, that’s a real story. You put all your effort into writing a great article and you expect your visitors to read it. Well, don’t! People most of the time only scans articles, don’t really read them. They scan the text for some pictures, hot spots, bold text, reads the titles and that is almost all. Ah, yes: they look for links.

So, again, coming to a conclusion related to the starting point: don’t have a Christian website filled with a lot of information from the start, think how you  can split this information between all your pages, in order that everybody understand your Christian message and read your site. By the way, remember those 15 seconds…

I was reading about a tool today, SeoDigger, which proved to be quite great,I’d say! I had a nice surprise to see that I get good rankings, ok, 2nd page but I was not targeting these exact phrases: website design for churches and website building free

Website design for churches

Well, this seems to be a criteria that is searched, as Overture suggests, about 4500 times per month. I know that G works even better, almost 7-8 times. Second page for website design for churches is good, but if I get to the first page it would be perfect at this moment. I didn’t target these words, but if I think about it they come natural, so there is a high probability that somebody interested in church templates to search for website design for churches, which should really get to my site Well, this is the proof that you can not think the others think. I thought of a lot of terms like church website design for example, but website design for churches was not one of those. Let’s see where we get if I blog a bit about it.

Website building free

Well, website building free is not quite a natural search. Or is it? It is not to me, at least. But it seems that 2000 times per month, people search for website building free, which should really lead them to me. I know it is a bit outside my Christian niche, but if you think, it defines perfectly what i provide.Right? I provide website templates for free which help them in building the website. And all these for free, so website building for free it is. Again, I am on the second page and I want to be in the first. Help me people! Comment on this post!

Well, i was just complaining about the low traffic these days for Christian templates related searches. Indeed, these last few days I had the lowest traffic since a long, long time. However I was surprised to see that my earnings were the highest ever. This is one of the most strange things IMO.

I think it is an accidental happening but it may also be due to my site being more targeted, I removed some keywords from my site at one point, I think this is one of the reasons. However, I want my traffic back. People, search more for Christian templates, church web templates, etc.

Low traffic for church website templates and church templates too

Actually not only Christian templates. I got today the lowest traffic since a long time. I didn’t receive traffic from Google for some keywords such as free Christian templates, Christian templates, church website templates, even if I am ranked well (for some I am the 1st in G). I don’t know what happen. Everything started recently, I have to find out why it happens.

Is there anybody else complaining from low traffic these days? Comparing to the last month, when I received a good traffic, this month was very strange. I want my site back on track since I don’t know what happens. It may be a bad month for traffic for religious sites? Is there anybody who can tell me that?

Well, this would be that low hanging fruit, but yes, make efforts to promote your Christian website in forums. Use signatures in forums and post wisely. Also never jump right on the post. Read what the others have to say, try to really help and give a good advice. Posts like yeah, you’re right don’t really help, they are seen more as spam techniques.

Also by posting good content builds your reputation, people will listen to you more and put more weight on your advice.

Always remember to read forum post rules, since you can step on someone’s toes and that’s always a bad thing in forums, stepping on administrator’s toes. You will get banned and you will miss a good opportunity to promote your website. If it is a good forum with a great traffic it will be your loss, so be careful.

If you want to promote some Christian forum it is a good thing to speak with the administrator, asking him if he allows you to promote your forum on his. You get the point why you should ask him. If you don’t you may be banned.If you ask nicely you may get the permission. I ask and usually it is ok and even if it is not, I get some other help from forum admin.

Well, I am not a forum savvy, I don’t know how to promote forums by themselves, I don’t even like doing it, that is one of the reasons I stopped the forum here on MT. Plus that due to the fact they are standard,a lot of people spam forums and I really don’t have the time to clean it all the time.

The thing with user generated content, like forums are,is that you can not control what people say, you can not drive your traffic one direction or an other, you can put a direction to your discussions but you can not control it.

Well, I deviated, I started to speak about promoting your Christan website on forums and I got to promoting a forum. I will stop here, more about it in a future post

I am thinking very much about how to make people contribute to MT site, the idea is to allow Christian designers to upload Christian templates so everybody can download them. But it requires a bit of work on my side since I don’t have the infrastructure ready and I can never find the time for it, even if I want very much to have this feature implemented.

I really believe that contribution from your visitors is the key to success. I can upload a number of church templates, but if you will help me, the number will grow very much (I hope) and it will help us all. A large number of religious web templates available here would make every user happy. Me too, by the way

So, this is the trend, to make MT interactive, but I can not tell when it will happen. I know I speak about this since a long time but I really want to make it happen,sooner or later. Keep your finger crossed

Well, remember that at one point we were blogging here about what you see here  I just don’t want to speak about this anymore on MT site since I just got rid of this not desired traffic. Ok, I wanted it at one point, I blogged about it, I put some on my site, but I just don’t want it anymore. It gave me bad traffic, cheap and not result oriented.

These days I removed those keywords from my site, ok, I kept some pages in order to not have a 404 error but I stopped putting importance on these pages. In the end, what is the purpose of this site? To provide Christian templates, church website templates, etc. Well then, this is exaclty what this site does and will do.

Now, due to the fact that I removed those highly searched terms from MT site, I suffer a traffic decrease and I  must admit that I don’t feel well about it. In the last month, MT had a constant traffic growth, with about 25% each month which was great! Removing those keywords was not a good thing from the point of view of the traffic, but actually, it is not about high traffic but about high quality traffic. Christian website templates is my niche, this is the traffic that I want.

People, come on searching for what you need on MT site. Come on, make suggestions, comment on this blog (not spam, please)! Everybody is welcome!

Yep!That is right, church furniture brings back people to the church(at least that is what ChristiaNet.com says). Ok, Church furniture won’t bring your visitors on site but let’ make a parallel between your church and your Christian website.

If your church is your on-earth place to meet, then your site is your virtual place to meet people. You need many people on your Christian website. Actually you will need as many as possible, you will do as much as you can to attract people on your site, right? You don’t see the analogy with church furniture?Well, let’s put it this way: your church website design will bring back your visitors on your Christian website.There, I said it!

Have a nice site to look at, don’t give your site low priority, no, because it will represent you on the web, and if people will see you Christian site in a  bad shape, then nobody will ever believe that your church’s the place to be. Nope!

Put your heart into your church website the same way you do with your church. Work close with your designer to build the site right, don’t let anything behind. Test, look, compare, your church website needs to look right!

I think you got my point and the title of this post is right in the end…church furniture brings visitors…on your Christian site !

I really believe that, really. Christian resources are not something to keep aside. Just promote them, people. Do you really think that is easy to find good Christian resources over this large internet? Well, let me tell you, it is not!

So, my opinion is that we should all promote each other. I will think of something to promote other Christian resources sites even if they will not promote me. Well, that should be the spirit. You find a Christian website out there that you believe it is worth to be made public, tell us, people! Tell us about it! By the way, I think I will start like this. Right this very moment. As far as the received feedback goes, there are a lot of Christian websites using Mambo or Joomla as content engine. Also, as far as I know, there are not many places to provide Christian Mambo templates or Joomla Mambo templates for free download.

Due to the fact that both Mambo and Joomla come from the same base engine, their templates are almost identical. We will try to provide you in the future, in the near future, I hope, free Christian templates for Mambo and Joomla. Also, why not, maybe some tutorials on how to customize Mambo Christian templates to fit your Christian website.

Of course, everything depends on the available time. We have a great desire to provide you tutorials on how to use Joomla Christian templates or Mambo templates and maybe we will find some help  from our readers. Who knows…
